Availability Analysis of an Offshore Wind Turbine Subjected to Age-Based Preventive Maintenance by Petri Nets

This paper analyses the production availability and associated maintenance costs of an offshore wind turbine with a horizontal axis configuration using Petri Nets modelling Monte Carlo Simulation. For this purpose, different features are implemented: reliability maintainability characteristics components; logistics operations, including types vessels, mobilization time, weather window. The strategies consist corrective age-based imperfect preventive that depends on components’ age reduction ratio. Thereby, to increase operating income reduce operation activities, optimal parameters estimated. As case study, generic operates at Viana do Castelo farm in Portugal is adopted. located 18 km off shore. turbine’s total exploration life 25 years.
